Introduction

Local Bar Discovery App is a nightlife startup aiming to improve how people discover local bars and stay engaged through rewards. The founders wanted a mobile app that encourages real-world visits, offers time-bound deals, and makes bar discovery fun and gamified.

They also required a multilingual app (English + French), accurate bar timing based on user location, smooth bar management tools, and a complete admin panel for oversight, creating a scalable ecosystem for nightlife engagement.

The Challenge

Building Local Bar Discovery App came with several technical and operational challenges:

Local Time Conversion
Bar hours were stored in UTC, but needed to display correctly based on each user’s local timezone.
Multilingual Consistency
Both the app and admin panel required smooth English & French support without UI or copy inconsistencies.
Reward System Logic
The “Spot” QR system had to validate location accuracy, enforce 1-hour check-in rules, and prevent misuse.
Offer Scalability
Offers tied to points, time windows, and bar-specific configurations required scalable logic and optimized queries.
Notification Targeting
The system needed precise rules for sending notifications only to qualified users.

Our Approach

Multilingual Architecture (EN/FR)

Implemented Laravel Localization with JSON dictionaries for clean, scalable language management across both mobile and admin platforms.

Geo-Verified Reward System

Developed the “Spot” system: users scan a QR at a bar → geolocation + time validity checked → points added → redeemable for offers.

Accurate Bar Timings (UTC → Local Time)

Used Laravel Carbon to dynamically convert UTC timings based on user timezone and daylight-saving changes.

Powerful Bar Manager & Admin Panel

Built robust control tools for bar managers (offers, timings, ratings, feedback) and for admin (bars, user management, notifications, questionnaires).
